How to Confirm Demand Before Building
Before you set down to code, ensure there's genuine interest in what you're creating.
Method 1: Keyword Research:
Utilize tools like Ahrefs to see what users are searching for. I checked FutureTools.io and found:
- AI portrait generator: 4,200 searches per month
- AI recipe generator: 2,000 searches per month
- AI symptom checker: 1,500 searches per month
- AI Minecraft skin generator: 500 searches (keyword difficulty: 7/100)
- AI prayer generator: 400 searches (keyword difficulty: 0/100)
Method 2: Reddit Research
Look for these phrases on Reddit:
- “Is there a tool that…”
- “Is there an app for…”
- “Looking for an app that…”
- “Alternatives to [popular tool]”
You'll discover numerous inquiries from users looking for tools that are yet to exist.
1. Content Curator Tool
Content creators often dedicate numerous hours weekly searching for engaging stories to share with their audience. Create an AI tool that gathers industry news, presents it in your unique voice, and automatically generates weekly newsletter content. Every niche has subscribers to industry publications—you could develop a distinct voice around various subjects:
- Recaps of side hustle stories
- Local community event newsletters
- Industry-focused news summaries (automotive, real estate, etc.)
2. Content Bank for Creators
Veteran creators possess extensive libraries of content across various platforms but struggle to navigate it all easily. Develop a searchable database that consolidates all your content—blog posts, YouTube videos, podcasts, social media—with AI-generated summaries. Bonus: enable functionality across Google Drive, social media accounts, and note-taking applications.
3. Sun Angle Tool for Photographers
My wife, who takes photos as a side business, often seeks out the sun’s angle for lighting based on Google Maps locations—a common issue for photographers. Create a tool that allows users to input any location on Google Maps to receive the exact sun angle for any time and date, ideal for scheduling golden hour shoots. An advanced version could incorporate weather data to suggest optimal photography days.
4. Voice-to-Calorie Tracker
Pete appreciates MyFitnessPal, though he finds it frustrating. While it works effectively, the search for foods and entry of serving sizes is time-consuming. He suggests developing an app where users can simply speak: “I just had a Culver’s double deluxe butter burger, large fries, and a Coke Zero.” AI would transcribe, structure the information, and automatically retrieve calorie counts. He believes voice input is easier to construct than photo recognition and fills the gap between manual entry and image input. Also, it would represent a prime acquisition target for Under Armour (MyFitnessPal’s parent company) or other fitness applications.
5. ChoreForge: Gamify Family Chores
Transform household chores into a Pokémon-style game where kids can level up adorable creatures by completing tasks! Pete envisions a productivity game for families where each family member has a separate user account and avatar—adorable and whimsical. Parents can tailor the chores and reward systems, enabling points and leveling up. The visual growth and character advancement would keep them engaged over time.
Note: Competition among children versus parents proves more effective than sibling rivalry.
6. Podcast Editing Assistant
For many years, I’ve manually reviewed transcripts following 60-minute podcast interviews. Using Claude AI, I've experimented with feeding it raw transcripts to receive AI suggestions on which 10% to trim for improved pacing, natural ad breaks, and episode highlights
