      1. Discover Your Why

Many people begin with, “I want to earn extra money.” However, you need to dig deeper: ask why, then ask again, much like an incessantly curious five-year-old. Perhaps you seek more flexibility in your budget. Why? To eliminate debt or take a family vacation. Why? Ultimately, you arrive at something like: “I truly value autonomy over my time.” That is the genuine motivator, and it’s what will sustain you during tough times.

      2. Inspiration Is Fleeting — Act Quickly Before It Fades

When a side hustle idea comes to you, inspiration doesn't last long. Do everything in your power to create positive momentum before it diminishes—register a domain, list a product, make your first offer. Tackle the simple tasks first. Momentum generates results, and results generate further momentum. Taking action before inspiration wanes will significantly benefit you.

      3. Ideas Are Like Buses — Another Will Always Come

Did you miss out on a particular idea? Don’t worry. As Richard Branson noted, “Business ideas are like buses. There’s always another one coming.” Missing one chance doesn’t signify the end.

      4. Cultivate Obsession

It's tough to compete with someone who is genuinely obsessed with a subject. Credit card points and miles serve as a prime example—many enjoy the game, but they can’t outpace those who dedicate themselves to it daily. When assessing ideas, consider: what do you never tire of discussing? What still excites you years down the line? That obsession is a legitimate competitive edge.

      5. Pursue Curiosity, Not Passion — Experiment One at a Time

If you lack a singular strong obsession, follow your curiosity instead. Conduct one experiment after another. Test various ideas. Allow yourself the freedom to try things without the pressure of them needing to be permanent. A recent experiment of mine involved producing an AI-generated episode. Although the audience didn’t respond positively, it was a valuable test. Additionally, my efforts in Facebook content monetization ended after the results did not warrant the time invested. Both were genuine experiments and not failures in the traditional sense.

      6. Money Comes from Addressing Problems

A business essentially serves as a repeatable system for solving a problem. Many lists of “ways to make money” skirt around this reality, but it's the foundational truth. People are online either to solve a problem or to find entertainment. If you can address a particular issue for a specific customer, attracting an audience and generating income becomes significantly easier than trying to compete with entertainment giants like Mr. Beast or ESPN.

      7. Pain Relievers vs. Vitamins

When faced with a severe headache, you immediately reach for Excedrin. Conversely, skipping your vitamin is usually no cause for concern. Pain relievers are far easier to sell than vitamins. What significant, urgent problem can you alleviate for your customers? The more your offering resembles a pain reliever—something people urgently need—the less persuasion you’ll need to do.

      8. If You Can't Be First, Be Distinct — If You Can’t Be Distinct, Be Superior

Concerned that someone has already executed your idea? Jonathan Mendonsa from ChooseFI stated on the show: “If you can’t be first, be different.” When he entered the financial independence sphere, numerous blogs existed, but few podcasts were present. Thus, ChooseFI found its niche in that medium. If you can't be different, focus on being better. Look for gaps, minor adjustments, or iterations that enhance what's available. Outpace the competition.

      9. Pursue Antelopes, Not Mice
